Cherry Mill Facility
Cherry Mill Healing Center is located on the northern outskirts of Fort Collins, Colorado, approximately five minutes from the city limits. The site was the historical cherry canning factory or mill that had its agricultural heyday in the early 1900s.
The fruit industry developed rapidly in the 1920’s before falling on hard times during the depression. Cherry trees were particularly adaptable to the region's climate. They could grow much of the year without benefit of irrigation and for a time cherries were shipped to pie bakeries in Kansas City and Chicago.
With the decline of cherry farming, the mill site underwent a series of owners, adaptations and personalities. Home to farmers, artists, families, sculptors and ceramists the Cherry Mill homestead presently echoes its history with its rambling additions, gardens and out buildings. With the Barghelame’s addition of a large arena equestrian facility, Cherry Mill now offers acres of inviting activities.
